This is my last Dubai post for a while as I am flying off to sunny (yes really!) England, so later this week I will post some more British design finds for your inspiration.
But firstly, I am so excited to share the story of my new favourite shop in Dubai and a real hidden gem. Tucked away on Al Wasl road, far from the shiny horrors of the malls, is a sprawling villa that is home to O’ de Rose - a treasure trove of arab-inspired goodies, art, fashion and home decor. The owners’ careful curation means that you won’t find any fuddy ‘ethnic’ pieces here, just quality, hand-made products with a nod towards Arabic heritage and a modern twist.
The story behind this intriguing shop began, when 3 cousins came together from far-flung parts of the world. Mimi moved to Dubai from London, bringing with her a passion for design and vintage fabrics, Dania relocated from Beirut, with her a love of entertaining and creating stunning interiors for her guests, and Nadine came from New York, full of inspiration from the Big Apple. The trio opened O’de Rose in 2008 and have not looked back since.
