Emma Block’s favourite artist is Miro Sasek.
EMMA BLOCK: I am an illustrator living in London. My first book, Tea and Cake, came out in 2011, and I am now working on my first children’s book. I have illustrated books, websites, magazines, greeting cards and packaging, and I am currently organising an exhibition of illustrations inspired by Grimm’s fairy tales.
I love Miro Sasek. I find travel very inspiring, and to me he just gets to the heart of cities and places. I’m also really inspired by 1950s illustration and his work is perfect example of this. I love how he creates such busy, charming, vibrant characters and scenes very simply with watercolour. The ‘This Is’ series of book is such an incredible collection of works.’
